Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)/AdBlue.

What is DEF/adblue?

Clean Engines Start Here,

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), known as AdBlue, is a non-toxic solution made of 32.5% high-purity urea and 67.5% deionized water. Used in diesel vehicles with SCR systems, it reduces harmful nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions and ensures full environmental compliance.
At JODEF, we produce DEF/AdBlue that meets strict ISO 22241 standards and carries API certification—guaranteeing performance, purity, and regulatory alignment.

By converting harmful emissions into harmless gases, it helps us meet strict environmental standards without compromising performance.

SCR – System

Is a part of the vehicle’s exhaust pathway. It includes components like the DEF/AdBlue injector, NOx sensors, and a catalytic converter—all added to the existing exhaust system.

Exhaust Emissions Begin

Diesel combustion produces nitrogen oxides (NOx), which are harmful pollutants.

DEF/AdBlue Injection

Sprayed into the hot exhaust gases—not into the engine itself. This happens before the gases reach the catalytic converter.

Chemical Reaction

The heat causes AdBlue to break down into ammonia (NH₃). This ammonia reacts with NOx in the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system.

Conversion

The SCR catalyst converts NOx into harmless nitrogen (N₂) and water vapor (H₂O), dramatically reducing emissions.

Clean Emissions Output

The output is mostly nitrogen and water—much cleaner than untreated diesel exhaust.

What Is the SCR System?

The Science Behind Cleaner Emissions

The Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system is an advanced emissions control technology used in diesel engines. It works by injecting Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), also known as AdBlue®, into the exhaust stream.
Once injected, DEF breaks down into ammonia, which reacts with nitrogen oxides (NOx) over a catalyst — converting them into harmless nitrogen and water vapor.
This process reduces NOx emissions by up to 90%, helping vehicles meet strict environmental regulations like Euro 6 and Tier 4 Final standard.

FAQ

DEF/AdBlue Questions Answered

Q1: What packaging options are available for DEF?

We offer DEF in Bulk 10,000+ Liter, 1000L IBCs, 200L drums, and 10–20L jerry cans with UV-resistant labeling.

Q2: How can I verify DEF quality?

Look for ISO 22241 compliance, API certification, and recent lab test reports. The fluid should be colourless and odourless.

Q3: Can I use DEF/AdBlue in any diesel vehicle?

Only in vehicles equipped with SCR systems. Never mix with diesel fuel or substitute with non-certified fluids.
